Professional Presentation Skills

Overview:

“Professional Presentation Skills” is either a 1 or 2 day program designed to provide participants with specific skills, procedures and techniques to speak as well as they think.  Learn how to effectively present in a variety of situations–whether delivered standing or seated, an informal or formal situation, or a small or large audience. This program provides opportunities for participants to be videotaped, as well as receive one-on-one coaching and feedback from an instructor and other program attendees to develop and deliver high-level presentations that are clear, compelling, and effective.

Learning Objectives & Sample Agenda:

Benchmark

  • Gain awareness of how participants look and sound from the audience’s perspective.

Physical Skills

  • Learn tips and techniques to control nerves, overcome inhibitions, and communicate key messages effectively and with confidence.
  • Learn the importance of what we see versus what we hear.
  • Learn how to create energy and interest to keep audiences engaged.

Strategizing the Presentation

  • Learn how to analyze the audience to tailor information to fit the needs of the group.
  • Uncover how to properly prepare meeting logistics and prevent unanticipated surprises.

Presenting with Visuals

  • Create visuals that show what you want to say.
  • Learn tips and techniques to ensure the visuals do not distract from the presenter.
  • Practice using visuals and receive in-the-moment coaching and feedback.

Formal Presentation Practice

  • Participants will each present a 5 minute presentation that they have recently given or will be giving in the near future.

Speaking Impromptu

  • Organize a point of view quickly to enable participants to speak on the spot.
  • Rely on a template to contribute an impromptu point of view.

Briefing the Boss

  • Position information as an asset to the “boss”.
  • Learn and apply the tools to help format points quickly.
  • Learn how to ensure continuing support for a project.

Handling Q&A

  • Apply techniques to control the flow of information.
  • Learn how to handle audience pressure with ease and confidence.

During the two day program, participants will present 14 times and will be videotaped four to five times. They will receive immediate feedback each time they present, from both the instructors as well as their fellow participants.
